The first challenge for any company participating in a trade show is to provide an exhibit that is appealing enough to capture the attention of passersby. Once visitors are drawn into the exhibit, the next challenge is to ensure they do not walk away empty handed. Much depends on how a company chooses to present its sales/informational literature.

Different Literature Rack Styles

There are three fundamental styles of literature racks, each having their own style subsets. The least common style of rack used at a trade show is the wall-mounted type (for obvious reasons). The other two styles, tabletop and free standing, are both very popular and effective when displayed correctly.

The type and placement of literature rack(s) should be given as much consideration as every other element of the design. Keep in mind the following:

  • What’s the best way to display your literature?

Heavy traffic exhibits can provide visitors an opportunity to obtain literature by making it easily accessible with the use of free standing racks on either side of the exhibit entrance. In the case of a low-traffic exhibit, these same free standing racks are often utilized but are placed much closer to those working the exhibit. This creates an opportunity for interaction between the visitor and the exhibitor, who can easily walk to the rack and select the information they wish to share with the person. Of course, table-mounted literature racks are still widely used in situations where there is a limited number of literature variations and to fill excess space, avoiding an empty appearance.
